Leon is an extraordinary high-performer. During his 12-year competitive career in diving Leon won gold at international competitions both individually and with his syncro partner Pete Waterfield. He and Pete won Silver in Athens 2004 and brought home to Great Britain the first Olympic medals in the sport for 44 years.
However if you were to ask Leon what his greatest achievement was he would say inventing The Twister – The World’s most difficult dive! This is a reflection of his creativity and extraordinary determination.
Leon has recently published his first book: ‘MENTOR – The most important role you were never trained for’
From his experience of being mentored whilst performing at the highest level and his experience of mentoring young aspiring athletes, including current World Champion Tom Daley, Leon shares a handful of auto-biographical stories that clearly illustrate what great mentors do. Aimed at businesses wishing to encourage mentoring, the stories and metaphors are punctuated with ‘take-away’ techniques that can be immediately employed in business, at home or in any important relationship.
“I always wanted to do more than tell my Olympic Story. Like most Olympians, my story has many great metaphors that are timeless, but I wanted to go further to making sure that is stays relevant and delivers real value to my corporate audiences. I have invested in learning facilitation skills and becoming aware of the cultural challenges that many large organisations are currently facing – and during that process this book emerged.”
Leon Taylor – September 2010.
Leon is an inspirational speaker, a yoga teacher and currently developing his NLP skills to Master Practitioner Level.
