Confident & Influential Networking
Some people feel very uncomfortable in networking scenarios; mainly because they think they have to perform in an unrealistic way.
They are great events to spectate at - you will usually see people hovering at the outskirts of groups desperately trying to think of a one-liner that will provoke raucous laughter and immediately ingratiate them with the group who will, of course, embrace them warmly.
Networking can be great fun when you have some practical techniques to use and games to play.
Networking is about quality, not quantity. If you are simply collecting a stack of business cards from people that won't remember you tomorrow you may as well buy a database. Would you rather have 20 business cards from people who won't remember you on one card from someone that you made a genuine connection with?
Here's a provocative question: When you meet someone in a networking context, are you thinking, "What do they think of me?" or, "What do I think of them?". Where is you attention? Self-consciousness is precisely that, paying attention to yourself and not what's going on around you.
The outcomes you can expect from this session are:
- Read body language and use your body language in networking environments
- Feel comfortable in networking interactions and know what to say after "Hello."
- Create intrigue, engage people and make quality connections quickly
