Creativity, Innovation and a few surprises…
28th February 2012 – RSA – London
If creativity is ‘the currency of the future’ how’s your bank account?
Join us for an afternoon at the RSA and come away with an insight into the biggest challenge facing business today as well as some practical ideas of what to do about it.
We can’t solve tomorrow’s problems with yesterday’s thinking. We have all recently witnessed huge successful businesses fail spectacularly. In the face of changing market conditions, changes in consumer behaviour and disruptive technologies it is only those who are prepared to think ahead and drop the security blanket of previously successful approaches that will thrive.
That’s all very well, but how do you do it? We have all been told to think outside of the box but we have no idea how we got into the box in the first place…
Join us for an afternoon of insights from the most contemporary of business thinking…
Andy Cross – Director of Learning at BT Group will be speaking on why creativity should be number 1 on any learning agenda and providing examples of unexpected ROI.
Steve Chapman – Organisation Development, Change and Creativity Consultant from GlaxoSmithKline, who also works as an independent Change Consultant, will be revealing the illusion ‘The Corporate Matrix’ and how the very things that we rely on to keep our businesses performing also constrain our ability to respond to and work with change in a creative way.
Daryll Scott – Creative Director at Noggin will be exploring how to use your brain on purpose; to generate new options, to innovate, to find new ways of achieving objectives and to discover things that you weren’t even looking for.
You will come away with an insight into the biggest challenge facing business today and some practical ideas of what to do about it.

Retail Therapy
Outstanding customer service and the bottom line
25th May 2011 at The Royal Society for the Arts, The Strand, London
With special guest Fraser Doherty – Young Entrepreneur & Founder of ‘SuperJam’
Five years ago noggin developed a programme to change customer service behaviour in retail environments that proved to be very successful. It has since been adapted and delivered for several organisations and in some cases the results have been extraordinary. At this event we shared how we do it, including:
- How to engage even the most resistant staff in active selling
- How to coach great customer service behaviour that is subtle and authentic
- How to use a simple, counter-intuitive technique to enhance customer experience and increase sales
We shared some stories and surprising statistics from working with M&S, Waterstones, ATS Euromaster and Honda.
For this, the third in our current series of presentations, we were delighted to announce that Fraser Doherty, the 22-year old MD of ‘SuperJam’, would be joining us to share his inspiring journey from kitchen table to global brand. At the age of 14, using his Grandmother’s secret jam recipe, Fraser perfected his own ‘SuperJam’. At 16 he left school to sell his jam, became the youngest ever supplier to a major supermarket chain and now supplies over 1,000 supermarkets including Tesco, Asda Wal‐Mart, Morrisons and Waitrose. Fraser is about to publish his second book and is the recipient of numerous awards including:
- Outstanding Young Person of The World Award (2007)
- Global Student Entrepreneur of The Year (2007)
Exclusive pre-launch of an exciting new book:
MENTOR – The most important role you were never trained for – By Leon Taylor
31st March 2011 at The Royal Society for the Arts, The Strand, London
From his experience of being mentored whilst performing at the highest level and his experience of mentoring young aspiring athletes, including current World Champion Tom Daley, Olympic Medallist Leon Taylor delivered a collection of auto-biographical short stories that clearly illustrate what great mentors do.
Aimed at businesses wishing to encourage mentoring to nurture and inspire talent, the stories and metaphors were punctuated with ‘take-away’ techniques that can be immediately employed in business, at home or in any important relationship.
The noggin team provided some helpful ‘take-away’ techniques and talked about the practicalities of mentoring programmes.
This book was not released until 1st May 2011 so attendees were the first people to see the finished manuscript. Leon signed the special pre-publication copies during an informal drinks reception.
Engaging and Nurturing Talent
11 November 2010 at The Royal Society for the Arts, The Strand, London
With Keynote Speaker Leon Taylor
This event was extremely successful and will be repeated soon.
The event was lead by Leon Taylor and we focused on mentoring as one of the most effective ways of engaging and nurturing talent. Leon was mentored on his journey to the Olympic podium in 2004, and is a mentor to Tom Daley (Current World Champion).
Tim Kiy, Head of Corporate affairs at Barclays joined us to provide an insight into some of the less obvious considerations and benefits of mentoring in commercial environments, and Daryll Scott, Mark Mulligan and Ben Houghton from noggin provided thought-provoking insights and practical ‘take-aways’.
Leon’s new book “MENTOR – The Most Important Role You Were never Trained For” will be released mid 2011 and we are sure to re-run this event at that time – for more information or to be kept abreast of forthcoming events please complete the enquiry form.
